The Saatchi Gallery (orig.)Duke of Yorks HQ Kings Road
London SW3 4SQ

While the Saatchi Gallery is not the first place you might think of to take a child, it is a good day out. First, there is the proximity to Duke of York Square and the fountains just off The Kings Road. Next, there is a lovely, expansive, relatively contained space in front of the gallery for children to run around. The staff warmly welcomes children, have an excellent educational tours for school visits, and kids really enjoy the experience of going to the Saatchi Gallery. Nothing about the gallery is specifically pitched for young children, but it is a really pleasant place to wander and interact with art in a more traditional, abstract way. It is also completely accessible for buggies and wheelchairs. There is a cafe / restaurant on site where you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner or afternoon tea. The kids menu is fairly pricey (7.50 for a main) and is aimed at older children. You can have a park bench picnic on the numerous benches in front of the gallery, beneath the gorgeous canopy of plane trees, or use the picnic tables at St. Lukes Playground or in front of the National Army Museum. Also, the Ranelagh Gardens and the Chelsea Physic Gardens are near-by. Admission to the galleries: Free. Details provided by Laura at London-Baby.com.

Opening Hours: 10am-6pm, 7 days a week, last entry 5:30PM
