Commercial Street between Brushfield St & Spital Sq.
London E1 6AA

Old Spitalfields Market has been voted Best London Market 2 years in a row, and attracts 25,000 visitors a week…and for good reason. This is the perfect place to find cutting edge fashion, handmade jewellery and gifts, artwork, and lots more. There is lots to look at, dozens of places to stop for a coffee or a bite to eat, its covered so you dont have to worry about the weather, and its all very buggy friendly. Parents of toddlers should be warned that its easy to get lost, so you may want to bring a harness with you to keep them from running off too far. Sunday is by far the busiest and most exciting day. Shops are open daily, stalls are only open Thurs (antiques), Fri (fashion) and Sun (everything!).

Opening Hours: Usually open from 11 am Mon – Sat, 9 am to 5 pm on Sundays.

About the Author:

Janis I look after the day-to-day running of ReallyKidFriendly.com, as well as some geeky stuff behind the scenes. Thanks to my two boisterous rascals (aged 4 and 5), I have become an expert in soft play areas, parks, energetic music classes, and where to get a stiff drink once the kids have gone to bed. Really – ask me anything!

Hi Tracy! About a 10 – 15 minute walk away you’ve got Allen Gardens and Spitalfields City Farm (http://www.spitalfieldscityfarm.org/). A bit further along is Weaver’s Fields – not the most thrilling of parks but lots of space to run around.

Victoria Park is superb – it’s too far to walk from Spitalfields, but you could hop on the #8 bus from Primrose Street towards Bow, get off on the corner of Grove Road and Roman Road, and walk for a couple minutes.
OR take the central line from Liverpool Street to Mile End and walk up about 5 mins… Actually, just across from Mile End station there is a fairly big park that was established for the millenium – last I went it was really cool & lots to distract the kids while you have a break (no doubt you need one! twins!!)
