Covent Garden Piazza
London WC2E 7BB

In the heart of Covent Garden, the London Tranport Museum has a wide range of exhibits, an interactive hands-on area for 7-11 year olds where they can try on replica costumes from the past 200 years and drive a bus. Children under 6 can let their imaginations run wild as they climb aboard fun versions of a bus, train, Tube and taxi. There is a picnic area where you can eat your packed lunch, or you can have lunch at the cafe overlooking Covent Garden Piazza. The menu has something for everyone, with pasta, panini, fish finger sandwiches, salads, cakes and smoothies, and they do half-price half-portions for kids. There is a dedicated quiet area for feeding younger babies.

Opening Hours: Sat – Thurs 10 am -6 pm. Fri 11 am – 9 pm.

About the Author:

Janis I look after the day-to-day running of ReallyKidFriendly.com, as well as some geeky stuff behind the scenes. Thanks to my two boisterous rascals (aged 4 and 5), I have become an expert in soft play areas, parks, energetic music classes, and where to get a stiff drink once the kids have gone to bed. Really – ask me anything!

Have had a couple of brilliant afternoons spent here – my 2 girls (aged 2 and 3) loved real buses, trains and tubes to climb in, the people in period costumes and of course, the horse poo in the 1800s exhibits….oh the joy

My two year old son loves all forms of transport and so this museum is just heaven for him. There is plenty of space to run and around and most of the exhibits can be climbed on or in. There are also a couple of play areas specifically for children. The cafe is small but good quality and there is a great gift shop. The best thing is that when we went, your ticket entitled you to entry for 12 months! Not sure if that was a special offer but it’s amazing value!
