IKEA Wembley
IKEA are well known for their practical, affordable and well-designed home furnishings, but is it a family friendly place to shop? We’ve done a bit of research on their website, but if you’ve been there recently, please tell us what makes IKEA Wembley really kid friendly!
Children’s IKEA:
There is an excellent range of bedding, nursery furniture, toys, sturdy storage solutions and everything else you’ll need to decorate your child’s room. Children are welcome to help with the shopping.
Baby and Child friendly restaurant on site:
There is an affordable kids menu with options from as low as £1, popular Fish and Chips meals for only £1.50, and organic baby food. Children will receive a FREE piece of fresh fruit with every meal purchased at the restaurant.
If you decide to bring your own food or milk with you, there are microwaves and bottle warmers, and they’ll provide colourful cutlery, bowls, disposable bibs and high chairs. Baby changing facilities are located near the restaurant.
Småland Creche
Need a bit of time to shop without the kids, or to plan your new kitchen? There is a free creche on site – call first for details.

When it’s raining and we need to get out IKEA Wembley is a good bet.
I try to get there just before my one-year-old is due his lunch, then I can pick up something to eat in the cafe before finding a table and highchair and settling down to a stress free lunch. There’s usually staff on hand to help, they sell children’s meals or you can bring your own and they provide microwaves for heating food up.
Accesibility is excellent, the food is cheap, it’s warm, there’s plenty of toys to look at (and sometimes buy!) plus there’s always something I need from IKEA (even if I don’t yet realise it!)
Then it’s a quick whizz around the Marketplace and a dash to the till before racing home in time for his afternoon nap.

BEWARE RETURNS!!! Today I had to exchange £7 worth of faulty goods and went to returns – worst experience ever. It was like sitting in the waiting room at Argos or A&E on a Saturday night. In fact, I prefer A&E. The staff were rude, abrupt and lazy. Watching them all (I reckon there were about 5 or 6) go from till to till, door to door and disappear was like being at the theatre in a farcical comedy. It took me an hour to exchange my very small item. For goodness sake, don’t forget your waiting ticket or else you’ll be there all day – they were kept at till No4 where, if one of the assistants decided to use it, they were being dished out with a smile (not). Get a grip; get managed. It was an awful experience.
