This is such a great place for kids of all ages and as it’s free is a place you can go back to time and time again. The special exhibitions which you pay for are always worth checking out as well. We usually treat ourselves to lunch as we haven’t paid to get it and the food is really very good and not too expensive. There’s such a variety of things to do: little aquarium, mad room with stuffed animals – almost better than a zoo as they don’t run away ! Music room, gardens and lots of hands-on stuff.

This is such a great place to take the kids. There is a lot of hands on stuff for kids to do and its also pretty interesting for the parents.
We visited recently and were told that the aquarium will be charging an entry fee from 2011 – £2. This is still exceptional value!

I love this place. It’s set in pretty gardens with a little ‘farm’ (some goats, chickens and rabbits) and the museum itself is great for any age. The aquarium is lovely, even for tiny babies, and the music room has lots of weird looking instruments that will amuse the kids (and the adults!) There are lots of free activities in the summer and live music events in the gardens.
