About the Author:

Janis I look after the day-to-day running of ReallyKidFriendly.com, as well as some geeky stuff behind the scenes. Thanks to my two boisterous rascals (aged 4 and 5), I have become an expert in soft play areas, parks, energetic music classes, and where to get a stiff drink once the kids have gone to bed. Really – ask me anything!

There are many benefits of having a community hall such as Cufos, at very affordable prices. I used it to run a drop in playgroup every Monday afternoon 2:30-4:30pm, but I have also used it to host my son’s first birthday party.

There is a kitchen with an oven, undercounter fridge, and sink area, with cups but no plates or cutlery. There is a large outdoor paved area the children can run around in (and our playgroup have lots of outdoor toys such as cars and trikes and trampoline). Plus the indoor area is clean, warm, light, and roomy, plenty of space for soft baby area, chairs for parents to sit and chat, and room for all the various activities befitting a playgroup (there is also a preschool run independently in the mornings). Now my son is 3 I enjoy the fact there are children toilets there with no locks on the doors, so they can go by themselves safely.

The Cufos committee recently (over the summer) updated the locks, making it more secure and child friendly. They have also fitted hinge protectors to prevent small fingers getting shut in the large heavy fire doors.

For the last two years I have organised a Xmas party for my playgroup, complete with Father Christmas, and it has been a great success, and easy to hold.
