Best soft play and indoor play areas in London and the UK

Joss in the Ball Pit

Let’s face it, keeping young children occupied on a rainy day can be hard work! A few hours in a stimulating, safe, clean soft play area can make all the difference when your kids need to burn off some energy on a cold or rainy day. Some of the better indoor play centres will even have a nice little cafe so you can relax while keeping an eye on your kids, free arts-and-crafts activities, and a safe place for the baby to roll around without being trampled by overexuberant toddlers.

Whether your favourite indoor soft play area is a massive all-singing-all-dancing entertainment centre with climbing structures, slides and bouncy castles, an imaginative area of a family friendly museum, or a colourful collection of soft play mats at your local baby friendly cafe, we want to hear about it!

Browse our collection of parent-recommended indoor play areas across the UK – please add a super – quick rating to the ones you’ve visited. If you have a moment free, write a few lines about why you love it too.

Janis I look after the day-to-day running of ReallyKidFriendly.com, as well as some geeky stuff behind the scenes. Thanks to my two boisterous rascals (aged 4 and 5), I have become an expert in soft play areas, parks, energetic music classes, and where to get a stiff drink once the kids have gone to bed. Really – ask me anything!

  1. As boring as it may sound, but a trip to a local library might be quite interesting for our kids. They like browsing through the books, reading bits and pieces right there and then.
