Janis I look after the day-to-day running of ReallyKidFriendly.com, as well as some geeky stuff behind the scenes. Thanks to my two boisterous rascals (aged 4 and 5), I have become an expert in soft play areas, parks, energetic music classes, and where to get a stiff drink once the kids have gone to bed. Really – ask me anything!

This truly is one of Britain’s hidden gems – and literally so. In the small village if Beaconsfield and apoearing to be tucked into the back garden of someone’s house, is the quite incredible model village depicting life in the UK over the past 100 years.

The attention to detail ensures that even if you are making your 20th visit you ate bound to spot some features you’ve never seen before. Children love this place for so many reasons – not least of which is the incredible train system that circuits around the site. See if you can spot Enid Blyton’s cottage or Wycombe Wanderers ground.

If my 2 children get the choice of a free day to be spent ANYWHERE in the south of England, this is the place they choose EVERY time. What better recommendation can there be than that?
